The order was obtained in hard competition with other major suppliers of electrical crane systems. ABB won the order thanks to global partnership with the purchaser and ABB’s local commitment.

Around 90% of the order is containing ABB developed and manufactured systems and products, hardware as well as software. Such as MV switchgear, transformers, LV systems, drives, motors, control system, Crane Information and Maintenace System. The cranes will also be equipped with an electronic anti-sway system developed by ABB.

The contract is also including a ABB’s Maintenance Training Simulator as well as extensive technical training of SSIT Engineers.

One special feature of these particular cranes is that they will be able to load/unload international container ships from the front and service local barges from the backreach.

The cranes are planned to be put into commercial operation in mid 2011.

ABB Crane Systems has the intention to increase its presence in Vietnam in the near future and build up a Vietnamese Crane Service group in cooperation with ABB Crane Systems Thailand and ABB Vietnam.
